Welcome to the brand new Arcotel Velvet (opening March 2004), Berlin's homelike design hotel for individualists with 71 rooms and 14 suites. Austrian charm and individual service reign on the Oranienburger Strasse. Harald Schreiber, an artist, designer and architect, who has decorated several Arcotel hotels with his extravagant yet cozy design, is responsible for the entire decoration. He has created a symbiosis between state-of-the-art high tech and warm soft materials and colors. Berlin was almost bombed out of existence during World War II, its streets reduced to piles of rubble, its parks to muddy swampland. But the optimistic spirit and strength of will of the remarkable Berliners enabled them to survive not only the wartime destruction of their city, but also its postwar division, symbolized by the Berlin Wall. Today, structures of steel and glass tower over streets where before only piles of rubble lay, and parks and gardens are again lush.
Das Arcotel Velvet ist ein Vier-Sterne-Hotel in Berlin Mitte, dort, wo sich allabendlich die Szene trifft, man die ausgeflipptesten und trendigsten Klamotten in schicken Boutiquen findet, und die angesagtesten Künstler in hippen Galerien ausstellen. Das behagliche Designhotel made in Austria wurde im März 2004 eröffnet. Was auch immer man mit dem Namen Velvet verbindet, die High-tech-Fassade aus Glas und Alu hat mit den Assoziationen von Samt, Wärme und Behaglichkeit wenig zu tun. Das Velvet setzt bewusst auf diesen Kontrast: außen technisch und cool mit sehr klaren Strukturen, innen behaglich, warm mit sehr vielen Akzenten, die das Wohlfühlambiente des Hotels deutlich unterstreichen. Das Arcotel Velvet verfügt über 85 Zimmer und Suiten mit aussergewöhnlicher Austattung und Architektur. Bereits beim Betreten des Raumes hat man das Gefühl auf eine Loggia zu gehen - die glatten hohen Fensterflächen und das ins Zimmer integrierte Bad schaffen eine offene Atmosphäre. Warmes rotes Leder an Betthaupt und Schreibtisch kontrastiert mit dunklem Holz und einem warmen roten Teppichboden, der die Erde von oben spiegelt. Die Eingangshalle teilt das Hotel im Erdgeschoß in ein Restaurant mit Schwerpunkt Wein, das Lutter und Wegener, betrieben von österreichischen Gastronomen Josef Laggner, und die Velvet Lounge. Der dunkle Eichenfußboden und die weichen, bequemen Polstermöbel in der Bar-Lounge laden zum Verweilen ein. Dunkelrotes Leder kontrastiert mit dem warmen braunen Holz und schafft eine behagliche Stimmung. Wertvolle Samtstoffe an den Wänden und Luster des berühmten Venezianers Mariano Fortuny machen den Raum zu einem kostbaren Ort für gemütliche Stunden. Weiter exklusive Restaurants, Einkaufs- und Unterhaltungsmöglichkeiten befinden sich ganz in der Nähe.
